The “Winterhalter in Menzenschwand e.V.” Association was founded on 20th. June, 2008.Its aim is to create a setting in which the work of the two artist brothers, Franz Xaver Winterhalter (1805 – 1873) und Hermann Winterhalter (1808 – 1891) who were born in Menzenschwand, is commemorated and given the recognition it justly deserves.
Their fame is to be boosted by this institution and interest in the artistic activity of the two aroused and maintained. With suitable advertising publications, the work of the two artists is to be made better known beyond local boundaries on a worldwide scale, since the two brothers were, during their lifetimes, the most celebrated and most loved painters of princely portraits at all European courts. They documented the entire European aristocracy and their work may thus be regarded and maintained as a part of the cultural legacy belonging to the whole of Europe.
At the moment we have got 97 members. With yearly membership dues of € 18,05 or more as desired you can become a member as well and support the society. The fees will be only used to encourage the promotion and to increase the attractiveness of the institution. As a member you have free access at any time and are also invited to special events.
